There are three possibilities: "Blind Broaching" which is done on a rotary machine where the part is forced over a succession of cutting tools, each of which can be pictured as one ring on a spline broach. "Rotary or Wobble Broaching" which is accomplished using a form tool fed into a rotating part at a slight angle which causes the "wobble" with the resultant cutting action.
"Single Point Shaping" where each tooth space is shaped using a conjugate ground form tool, and the part indexed between teeth.
