Is there a reference or source that describes basic fundamental gear configurations?
something like the list below... but a comprehensive list
planar-planar = two meshing circles = spur gear
cylindrical-planar = circle meshing with cylinder = worm gear
cylindrical-cylindrical (co-axial) = helical gears
cylindrical-cylindrical (transverse) = crossing helical gears, others ?
conical-planar = ... etc etc
