The cutterblade point width can not be adjusted.
It can only be reduced by grinding the blade side that is not cutting.
Like when it is a outside blade the grinding would be on the inside of the blade.This should only be performed by blade manufacturers.Try VESTA WORKS in POLAND.They manufacture blades for us.
Normally we dont bother by reduce the blade tips.When doing jobbing or small batch ,choose a blade set with a smaller tip and cut the gear to full depth and then simply do the setover on the index driven shaft(thats for a Gleason 16).

To calculate the blade width ,there are Gleason programs or calculation sheets like 20deg Special Jobbing system or just the Spread Blade system.

We have our own calculation jobbing program that we are working with.
A skilled Spiral Bevel cutter should be able to know what cutter points will be working just fine.
