Ok so since I have zero experience and knowledge of gear tooth grinding I have a question...if its a dumb one, so be it...but...if a gear has ground teeth, is the root diameter smaller than standard? I'm trying to figure out a 2 module, 20 deg PA 20 deg. helix 90T RH gear. The GCP3 gives me an o.d. of 7.698, with a minor diameter of 7.359. However, the actual root diameter measures 7.281. The o.d. measures 7.671, but it looks like the o.d. is somewhat worn so I'm assuming the 7.689 is probably right...just wondering why the root diameter is so deep???
