Thanks for the info Brad. Is this process more efficient than just turning the worm (thread cutting) in a lathe with a form tool? The worm has 3 threads and mates with a 10 DP, 4.00 PD gear. I'm at home now and can't remember the other particulars on the worm. It doesn't look like my current vendor is grinding the worm. It's a medium carbon steel.
