Thanks for replying. Was the milling cutter in the shape of a rack? Can't help re pins but all you need is dowels that are near the theoretical size- let me know what you have and I can recalc the pin size.
Yes I designed the software, which is very comprehensive and I have tried to sell it before to gear companies without success. I would like eventually to sell the rights to it in the US ( I am A Brit).I have used it to help several MWG queries but often I don't even get an acknowledgment. It has been useful to me however as it often raises new problems which I then add to the program.
Because it covers many gear geometry problems, it is quite complex and using the program needs a reasonable knowledge in the first place- if you send me your e-mail address I will send you a copy of the software manual ( needs some update) and you can see what I mean.
