Do you mean double-enveloping ? Cone Drive ?

If so, you can't do it that way. They are cut by a matching hob that has thin teeth. It is fed into the gear blank, then the gear blank is advanced, then retarded in relation to the hob to get the proper tooth thickness. Then the hob is centered again then backed out.

I think there is a chapter about it in one of Dudley's books.
