Some Index gearsets were not reliably mounting at the machine.
|
All Versions of CPC-24 should be updated with this fix.
|
Index Calculations have been dropped in favor of an internal table. The new table mimics the standard 30/N table
to assure workability at machine.
User input Index gear tables for last shaft and missing gear sizes are ignored and thus no longer necessary.
Additions made to F1 Help screens explain the changes and how to interpret the displayed change gears.

| (1) Pitch angle was not recalculated when addendum changed.
(2) Finding Profile Factor (Kp) from Swing Angle was hit or miss when matching to an existing summary.
Kp should be added to output print and preview.
(3) Added Revised Method to Standard and Formate methods. This is expected to make matching an existing summary easier.
(4) Linkage Setting added to Generating Cam selection screen would make staying under 1.400 easier.
(5) Some settings between members were different in the case of miter sets.
| Versions of CPC-2A/102 prior to 07/30/07 should be updated.
| A lot of what was changed here has to do with making matches to existing summaries.
Since there are many choices to be made while creating a summary, matching existing summaries is not so simple.
Since matching has been expressed often in user comments, it seems a good idea to make matching an easier effort.
Just remember that recreating a particular summary is NOT necessary to a successful summary.
However matching builds confidence in the software and is a valuable way to learn the software.
I regret to say that, until now, matching summaries was considered relatively unimportant.
Besides, while making changes for the purpose of matching, a number of real issues were uncovered.
(1) Pitch angle is recalculated for user changes in addendum or Whole Depth.
Also, maximum dedendum angle before undercut is now displayed.
(2) Standard Method only: Kp is recalculated when Swing Angle(s) are changed. Kp is also printed on the summary.
(3) Rather than incorporating all revisions into the one Standard method presented,
changes not appearing in the original Standard (Book) Method
have been extracted to the new Revised Method.
Standard Method now strictly follows the original documentation, while the Revised Method incorporates
changes made by the OEM to the original method. To my knowledge, the documentation was never updated and distributed for these changes.
It's not certain whether the Revised method is superior to the Standard, but it makes hand calculation easier. While not proven,
there could be other justification in using the Revised method - but for now let's say it's just different.
I would appreciate anyone's comments or experience in this area.
(4) Linkage setting was one of the last calculations made, but directly influences the choice of a generating cam. So
linkage has been added to the Generating Cam selection screen.
(5) There's no reason for values and settings to vary between two miter members.
It's possible for comparison's sake to force differences, but differences don't occur by default now. This issue has been corrected.
Additional comments and hints are added to the Help facility.
Cutter Selections in the Formate Method are now in a separate window.

| Change gears for ratios close to 1.0 were incorrect;
that is, CPC-RATIO was not finding the best possible change gear set for
ratios in the range from 0.95 to 1.1 approximately. Other ratios appear not
to be affected by the error but this is not a certainty for all possible ratios.
| critical -
you should update
before further use
| This update corrects the problem with best four gear set, but results in
a slight increase in time to find a gear set.
| Corrected CPC-RATIO module and posted to website 11/09/03

Cutter Numbers - limited to standard sizes in some internal areas of code.
While numeric input allowed decimal cutter sizes program could not use these custom sizes.
Syntax error (12) could occur on WldMax if no cutter diameter matched.
PLEASE NOTE:
Beta code is included for jobbing method on machine 116. This method has not been field tested on No. 116 machines, so
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK
No. 116 machine can be selected from Machine List.
FYI - This Beta program code for 116 converts No. 16 machine settings to No. 116 settings.
While this conversion has reportedly worked well when converting 2-step production settings,
jobbing has not been demonstrated as necessary or practical for No. 116.
This is based on our limited experience so far.
|
Update is suggested in all cases.
No. 116 summaries are approved for field testing only.
If you run No. 116 machine trials using this software,
Please
your results.
|
Custom cutter sizes permitted from 3" to 16" dia.
WldMax initialized to avoid syntax error.
All comments welcome, especially if beta testing on 116 machine.

Important notes about updating your software:
These instructions on print-friendly page
CPC software updates are not complete stand-alone programs. If you want to download a complete
software program, then you must download from the "demo" page.
Updating your licensed software will not require a new activation key. Your activation key is
guaranteed to work as long as you install the updated software on the originally installed computer.
If you are installing on a new computer, please go to the demo download page for complete packages.
The software packages listed there at at the same version level as the updates shown here.
If you have any difficulty or questions please
your company name, phone number of someone we may contact, and the computer ID displayed by the software
when you try to activate it. Please include your Email address.
Make a backup copy of your CPC software. This is not a requirement to accomplish an update, but having a backup copy before performing any changes is always a good idea.
Updates are always compressed into a single self-extracting downloadable file ending with .EXE file extension.
Step 1. When downloading a new update, save the new file into the same directory as your existing CPC software.
If you are asked whether to overwrite an earlier file, answer "yes".
Step 2. Right click Start and select Explore to open up your Windows File Explorer.
Find your CPC software directory which now contains the update file you just downloaded. The update file is a self-extracting
compressed file with .EXE extension. If your original demo download file is in this directory, don't confuse it with the update file.
The update file name will end with "...UPD.EXE" or "UP.EXE".
Begin the extraction and replacement by double-clicking the ...UPD.EXE file.
As each file is extracted, answer "Y" or "A" to allow all replacements. This will accomplish the update.
Congratulations! You have just completed the update for your CPC software.
What if you downloaded the wrong update file for your software and performed the update anyway?
Don't worry - no damage was done, but your software was not updated either. Just go back to Step 1 to find
the correct update to download and repeat the process.
